Setup

Step 1 of 2

26 × 18 m121

One complete 3-player group is shown. A side server feeds a central receiver who faces a red defender and one secured empty mini goal. Two flat markers bound the defender’s lateral screening line. Red starts in front, stays on that line and does not tackle or enter the receiver’s touch space.

Coaching points

  • Setup: A side server feeds a central receiver who faces a red defender and one secured empty mini goal. Two flat markers bound the defender’s lateral screening line. Red starts in front, stays on that line and does not tackle or enter the receiver’s touch space.
  • Play: The server delivers a controlled ground pass. The receiver checks red’s position and directs a settling first touch towards an open side before placing a ground shot. A goal through a clearly open window earns one. If both sides are covered or the first touch escapes, return safely to the server and stop.
  • Reset and rotation: End after a finish or safe return. Stop before collection, rotate server, receiver and screen each turn, and rest after three turns each. Red selects a different starting point on the same line before the next pass; no rear recovery chase occurs.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 3 players. With up to 6, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Prepare the receiving body to see the goal and screen. The first touch should create a usable shooting angle without a full turn; a safe return is appropriate when the window is unavailable.
  • Safety: Ground placed shots and walking lateral screen only; no goalkeeper, contact, tackling, sliding or deliberately blocking a close shot with the body. Red stays on the marked line and clear of an announced shot path; stop if the line is not safely separated.

Equipment

  • Ball · 2 per group, including a spare
  • Flat Marker · 2 per group
  • Mini Goal · 1 per group
  • Flat Marker · 4 per group for field and zone corners, in addition to pictured markers
  • Bib · 3 per group; colours match the pictured roles

Progressions

  • Easier Red remains stationary with one clearly open side and the receiver can stop the ball before setting it.
  • Harder Red chooses a new initial screen each turn and may walk laterally before the shot decision; retain clear separation and a safe return.
