After a teammate’s shot has stopped, a controlled second-ball roll gives the waiting finisher a rebound-like read without a keeper collision.

Setup

Step 1 of 2

26 × 18 m123

One complete 3-player group is shown. Use a first shooter, a follow-up finisher and a side server beside one secured empty mini goal. Two balls are available: one at the first shooter and one held stationary by the side server. The finisher waits behind the flat arrival marker; the server stays clear of the goal and shot path.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Use a first shooter, a follow-up finisher and a side server beside one secured empty mini goal. Two balls are available: one at the first shooter and one held stationary by the side server. The finisher waits behind the flat arrival marker; the server stays clear of the goal and shot path.
  • Play: Player 1 places a ground shot and then stops. Only after that ball has stopped safely out of the active route does player 3 roll the second ball into the arrival area. Player 2 reads the roll, moves to it and places a controlled follow-up finish for one quality point. An awkward roll is safely stopped.
  • Reset and rotation: Stop after the follow-up and collect both balls by the outside route. Rotate first shooter, second finisher and side server every turn, rest after three turns each and change the gentle roll angle. Never serve both balls simultaneously.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 3 players. With up to 6, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Stay ready after the initial shot without running blindly towards goal. Look for the loose-ball direction, arrive balanced and prepare the next contact; this is a deliberately controlled simulation rather than a claim of a live rebound.
  • Safety: No goalkeeper, actual ricochet, diving, aerial service or simultaneous shots. The first ball must be stationary clear of the route before the second is served. One arriving finisher, ground rolls and placed shots only; stop for unsafe service.

Equipment

  • Ball · 3 per group, including a spare
  • Mini Goal · 1 per group
  • Flat Marker · 1 per group
  • Flat Marker · 4 per group for field and zone corners, in addition to pictured markers
  • Bib · 3 per group; colours match the pictured roles

Progressions

  • Easier Tell the follow-up finisher where the roll will arrive and allow a settling touch.
  • Harder Vary the gentle roll within the marked arrival area without announcing its side; keep the first ball safely stopped and allow balanced adjustment.
