One complete 10-player group is shown. Five blue attackers begin with three builders and two forward receivers. Three red defenders start in the middle block. Two protected teal supports stay in forward wide pockets. Blue attacks the right goal; red counters left.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Five blue attackers begin with three builders and two forward receivers. Three red defenders start in the middle block. Two protected teal supports stay in forward wide pockets. Blue attacks the right goal; red counters left.
  • Play: Begin each blue attack with a diagonal forward ground pass to an available inside or wide support. Then choose the combination that reaches the right mini goal. Blue scores one for a ground goal; red scores one at either left outlet after a regain. Defenders may recover beyond their starting block after the ball progresses.
  • Reset and rotation: End after a goal, ball out or a stopped counter. Restart with a different builder. Play 45-second bouts, then rotate three blue players into defending, move the old defenders into build-up and exchange the support/forward roles over later bouts.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 10 players. With up to 20, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Look beyond the block for diagonal support without forcing a covered pass. The forward receiver should offer a return or a connection towards goal.
  • Safety: Controlled ground passes and finishes, no goalkeeper, contact or sliding challenge. Teal supports cannot be tackled; secure goals and stop play before collection.

Equipment

  • Ball · 2 per group, including a spare
  • Mini Goal · 3 per group
  • Flat Marker · 14 per group for field and zone corners, in addition to pictured markers
  • Bib · 10 per group; colours match the pictured roles

Progressions

  • Easier Red defenders walk and give the first receiving player time to settle before recovering.
  • Harder Red chooses a different starting screen; blue selects an inside or outside route instead of memorising the same diagonal pass.
