One complete 6-player group is shown. Three blue face three red between two secured empty mini goals, blue attacking right and red left. Mark two wide gates inside the pitch. One ball is active; turn both gates across the intended horizontal passing direction.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Three blue face three red between two secured empty mini goals, blue attacking right and red left. Mark two wide gates inside the pitch. One ball is active; turn both gates across the intended horizontal passing direction.
  • Play: A team must complete a ground pass through either gate to a teammate before it may score. A carry through does not qualify. Once that connection is complete, choose any clear ground finishing route to the attacking goal for one point. After any possession change, the new team must qualify afresh.
  • Reset and rotation: A goal or ball out stops play; the other team restarts in a clear central space with qualification cleared. Use 45-second bouts, then rest, swap ends and change the first ball holder. Remove a loose ball only with play stopped.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 6 players. With up to 12, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: The gate connection should improve the shooting angle, not simply fulfil a condition. Receivers move beyond the gate where they can see the goal and another teammate before their next touch.
  • Safety: Ground service and placed shots; no goalkeeper, contact, sliding or occupied-foot tackles. Defenders intercept travelling or exposed balls only. Leave safe space around gates and secure targets; stop if routes converge.
