24 × 16 mPair APair B1234

One complete 4-player group is shown. Two pairs work in separate wide lanes with one ball per pair and one flat-marker gate. The carrier starts near, the partner begins ahead and moves to the far receiving space.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Two pairs work in separate wide lanes with one ball per pair and one flat-marker gate. The carrier starts near, the partner begins ahead and moves to the far receiving space.
  • Play: Carry to a comfortable passing distance, then release through the gate to the moving partner. The partner controls, carries back on the clear lane edge and makes the same connection in reverse. One accurate moving handover earns one quality point; there is no race.
  • Reset and rotation: Stop at each end before reversing the route. Swap the first carrier after three connections. Rest after 45 seconds and exchange partners next bout; no slalom or relay queue is used.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 4 players. With up to 8, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Match carrying pace to the partner’s arrival. Lift the eyes before the release and keep the delivery reachable so the partner can continue with control.
  • Safety: Controlled pace and ground passing; separate lanes with no crossing. Only one ball travels per lane; stop before retrieving loose balls.

Equipment

  • Ball · 3 per group, including a spare
  • Gate · 2 per group
  • Flat Marker · 12 per group for field and zone corners, in addition to pictured markers

Progressions

  • Easier The partner waits beyond the gate until the carrier is ready to pass.
  • Harder The partner varies arrival timing and the carrier adjusts when to release; keep gate width and pace comfortable.
