Setup

Step 1 of 2

28 × 20 m12

One complete 2-player group is shown. A server and finisher face one secured empty mini goal. Three flat markers at the same depth represent a reference line with generous gaps; a fourth marks the arrival point beyond it. The finisher starts behind that line and away from the server’s ground passing route.

Coaching points

  • Setup: A server and finisher face one secured empty mini goal. Three flat markers at the same depth represent a reference line with generous gaps; a fourth marks the arrival point beyond it. The finisher starts behind that line and away from the server’s ground passing route.
  • Play: The finisher signals and begins a controlled diagonal run through the lower gap. The server releases a ground pass into the arrival point as the finisher approaches, rather than into the starting feet. The finisher controls if needed and places a ground shot for one timing-and-finish quality point.
  • Reset and rotation: The shot or an unreachable service ends the attempt. Stop before collection, return by the outside route and exchange roles. After three turns each, rest and mirror the gap and service direction; never chase a ball that leaves the safe arrival space.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 2 players. With up to 4, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Coordinate the release with the runner’s approach so the ball is reachable beyond the reference line. Watch the ball and prepare a balanced final contact; no third-player return or wide cross creates this finish.
  • Safety: Flat markers, no defender, goalkeeper, contact or aerial service. Controlled run and ground placement, one active ball and stopped retrieval. Keep the line gaps wide and remove the timing demand if the runner rushes.

Progressions

  • Easier The runner walks to the arrival marker and receives a gently paced ball before finishing.
  • Harder Let the runner choose between two generous line gaps before starting and have the server adjust the ground release; keep a clear final shooting area.
