Diamond Passing Pattern

A four-corner diamond: pass, follow your pass, receive on the half-turn — the pattern that teaches first touch away from pressure.

Setup

Step 1 of 3

20 × 20 m diamond

One player at each corner of the diamond, spares behind. Ball starts at the bottom.

Coaching points

  • Pass to the back foot so the receiver can open out.
  • First touch across your body, never back where the pass came from.
  • Follow your pass at pace — the pattern only works if you keep the corners filled.
  • Both directions: swap the rotation every two minutes.
