Setup

Step 1 of 2

26 × 18 m12

One complete 2-player group is shown. A shooter with the ball faces a wall partner to the upper side of one passive mannequin. A flat arrival marker lies beyond and below the mannequin, with a secured empty mini goal further ahead. One ball is active and the partner stays outside the shot route.

Coaching points

  • Setup: A shooter with the ball faces a wall partner to the upper side of one passive mannequin. A flat arrival marker lies beyond and below the mannequin, with a secured empty mini goal further ahead. One ball is active and the partner stays outside the shot route.
  • Play: The shooter passes to the wall partner, then walks or jogs around the clear lower side of the mannequin. The partner returns a reachable ground ball into the marked arrival space. The shooter settles if needed and places the shot for one completed exchange-and-finish point.
  • Reset and rotation: The attempt ends at the shot or a misplaced return. Stop before retrieving, walk outside the route and exchange roles after each attempt. Rest after three turns each and mirror the wall side; no continuous circuit or queue follows.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 2 players. With up to 4, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: The shooter’s movement creates the return angle. The wall partner watches that movement and releases into the reachable path; ask how the final touch prepares the shot rather than simply finishing a passing pattern.
  • Safety: Passive secured mannequin, wide route, ground passes and placed shots; no defender, goalkeeper or contact. One active ball; stop instead of stretching for a poor return. Retrieve only after the ball is stationary.

Equipment

  • Ball · 2 per group, including a spare

  • Mini Goal · 1 per group

Progressions

  • Easier Replace the mannequin with a flat marker and pause at the arrival point before the return.
  • Harder Vary the wall partner’s safe angle before each attempt so the shooter prepares a different return path; retain comfortable control and pace.
