Setup

24 × 16 mLane ALane B1122

One complete 4-player group is shown. Two separate lanes each have one carrier on a ball and one ball-free red blocker. The blocker moves only across the lane near its midpoint. A wide gate marks the far controlled-carry finish.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Two separate lanes each have one carrier on a ball and one ball-free red blocker. The blocker moves only across the lane near its midpoint. A wide gate marks the far controlled-carry finish.
  • Play: The blocker walks to either side without tackling. The carrier checks the movement and carries through the space on the other side, then controls through the far gate for one. Stop if the gap closes; restarting is better than squeezing past.
  • Reset and rotation: Stop at the gate, return along the lane edge and swap carrier/blocker each attempt. Work for 45 seconds, then rest and exchange lanes. Retrieve only after both lanes stop.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 4 players. With up to 8, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Look beyond the ball to the changing obstacle. A small turn or delay should preserve a clear route; the task is reading movement rather than finishing a shot.
  • Safety: Blocker does not chase, touch the ball or approach occupied feet. Walking control and generous lane width; no body contact, sprint or collision incentive.

Progressions

  • Harder The blocker may make one early lateral change before the carrier reaches halfway; no late closing or tackling.
