Setup

One complete 4-player group is shown. Four players spread across a clear rectangle with one ball each. Leave room around every player; there is no line, opposing player or race.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Four players spread across a clear rectangle with one ball each. Leave room around every player; there is no line, opposing player or race.
  • Play: Choose a small sole roll, inside touch or turn, then carry into an empty space. One controlled move-and-stop earns a personal quality point. Try a different comfortable movement next time; share a favourite with the group when play pauses.
  • Reset and rotation: Use 45-second exploration bouts followed by a short rest and demonstration. Restart from a new clear space with every ball stopped. No one is eliminated and points are personal, not a team race.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 4 players. With up to 8, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Ask which touch keeps the ball within reach. Encourage players to look for empty space and choose a movement rather than wait for a stop-go command.
  • Safety: Walking or gentle jogging only; no jumps, contact or aerial tricks. Stop before retrieving a loose ball; enlarge spacing if children converge.
