One complete 9-player group is shown. Three teams of three use the upper playing area between two secured empty mini goals. Blue attacks right, red defends and teal rests in the separate lower strip. Only one ball is active; the rest team neither receives nor acts as neutral support.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Three teams of three use the upper playing area between two secured empty mini goals. Blue attacks right, red defends and teal rests in the separate lower strip. Only one ball is active; the rest team neither receives nor acts as neutral support.
  • Play: Blue starts each wave from the left and tries to create a ground finishing chance. A goal earns one and ends that attempt. If red wins possession, it may make one counterattack towards the left goal; its goal earns one. Ball out or the end of that counterattack also stops the attempt.
  • Reset and rotation: Run two attempts with the same attacking team, then stop all play: blue becomes red’s defending role, the previous red team rests and teal becomes the attackers. Reset the ball and all roles before restarting. After all teams have attacked, rest together and swap target directions.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 9 players. With up to 18, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Create an angle for a composed finish before the defence settles. On a regain, lift the eyes towards the opposite target before passing; the planned rest and stopped reset are part of the wave.
  • Safety: Ground placed shots, no goalkeeper, contact, sliding or foot tackling. Defenders intercept exposed or travelling balls only. Keep the rest strip and outside retrieval route clear; collect only after the whole attempt stops.
