Setup

One complete 4-player group is shown. Use two separated lanes with a target ball midway in each. One player stands at each end; the near player starts with a service ball.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Use two separated lanes with a target ball midway in each. One player stands at each end; the near player starts with a service ball.
  • Play: Take turns passing at the target ball. A clean hit that moves it towards your partner earns one point; a miss earns none. The partner stops the service ball and takes the next turn. No one enters the lane while a ball travels.
  • Reset and rotation: Pause after six turns each, return the target to the centre and swap ends. Collect stray balls only after both lanes stop; compare accurate contacts rather than power.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 4 players. With up to 8, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Look from target to ball before contact. Keep the ankle firm and change the pass weight when the target moves.
  • Safety: Keep service on the ground. Leave a clear gap between lanes; stop before any retrieval and reduce distance if passes lift or escape.

Progressions
