One complete 3-player group is shown. Green GK stands in front of a secured left goal. Two blue servers occupy separated upper and lower positions with one ball shared between them. They pass only to each other; nobody serves a shot at the keeper.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Green GK stands in front of a secured left goal. Two blue servers occupy separated upper and lower positions with one ball shared between them. They pass only to each other; nobody serves a shot at the keeper.
  • Play: After readiness, blue passes gently between the two server positions. GK walks to align with the new ball angle and stops balanced before the receiving server holds the ball. A settled position from which GK can see ball and both goal posts is one success. Pause to discuss the angle; no dive or block follows.
  • Reset and rotation: Stop after each pass and rotate all three roles after two adjustments. Rest after 30 seconds and mirror the server side. Retrieve only with everyone stationary; secure the goal and keep the goal mouth empty behind GK.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 3 players. With up to 6, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Use the ball and both goal posts as references. Small steps let GK adjust sideways while remaining balanced; avoid a fixed-distance rule or lunging towards an imaginary shot.
  • Safety: Adult supervision on level clear ground. Gentle service only; agree readiness before release. Stay on feet: no diving, jumps, contact, slide, contested catch or fast close shot. Stop a missed ball rather than chase. Retrieve and rotate only while play is stopped.

Progressions

  • Harder Either server may hold then return the pass so GK reads the current ball side; keep the pause and no shots.
