26 × 18 m1231

One complete 4-player group is shown. Three blue attackers face one red defender and a secured empty mini goal. Blue 1 starts near the upper side with the ball, blue 2 offers a lower shooting angle and blue 3 offers safe support behind. Red screens from in front at walking pace.

Coaching points

  • Setup: Three blue attackers face one red defender and a secured empty mini goal. Blue 1 starts near the upper side with the ball, blue 2 offers a lower shooting angle and blue 3 offers safe support behind. Red screens from in front at walking pace.
  • Play: Start when all four are ready. The ball holder may take an open ground shot or use a short pass to create a clearer finish. A placed goal earns one; a shot into a visibly occupied route is stopped and discussed. Red may intercept a travelling or exposed ball, which ends the attack.
  • Reset and rotation: A goal, interception or ball out ends one attempt. Stop and reset in the same near-goal area; change which attacker starts and where red screens. Rotate through all four roles each attempt, with a rest after 45 seconds.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 4 players. With up to 8, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Look at the shooting lane before committing. Draw attention to the teammate’s better angle and the supporting return option; passing can be the best finishing decision when the immediate shot is covered.
  • Safety: Ground placed shots only, no goalkeeper or contact. Red walks and intercepts exposed or travelling balls; no foot tackling, slide or deliberate blocking with the body at close range. Stop for converging players and retrieve only after the attempt ends.

Equipment

  • Ball · 2 per group, including a spare
  • Mini Goal · 1 per group
  • Flat Marker · 4 per group for field and zone corners, in addition to pictured markers
  • Bib · 4 per group; colours match the pictured roles

Progressions

  • Easier Red stays still and leaves one clearly open passing-and-shooting route.
  • Harder Red chooses the initial screen each attempt and may walk to adjust it; attackers reassess the shot or set while retaining comfortable ground service.
