Coaching points

  • Setup: Three blue play three red between two mini goals. Two teal anchors stay in separate wide channels and support whichever team has the ball. Blue attacks right; red attacks left.
  • Play: A goal scores one; a goal after connecting with both wide anchors in that possession scores two. Anchors can move along their channel but cannot score, be tackled or pass directly to each other. Central players choose when to retain or switch.
  • Reset and rotation: After a goal or ball out, restart with the other team beside its own goal. Rotate two central players into anchor roles every 45 seconds, pause for recovery and exchange attacking directions next bout.
  • Numbers: The diagram shows 8 players. With up to 16, use a second complete group in a separate area. Odd spare players rest off the area and rotate into a playing role every 45 seconds; everyone has equal turns.
  • Coach focus: Move the ball away from the crowded side through a visible central link. Keep the far anchor available rather than forcing the switch.
  • Safety: Ground passes and shots only; interception-only defending and no contact. Anchors remain outside the central challenge area; secure the mini goals.

Progressions

  • Easier Allow a central receiver to settle before a defender approaches.
  • Harder After using the near anchor, the team decides whether the far anchor is open or whether to retain and try another route.
